Steamed Tofu Skin with Ham and Bamboo Shoot (金华火腿蒸百叶和春笋)

Hi!!! Last week, my mom went shopping and came back with an AMAZING cut of Jinhua ham. The ham itself was top notch, we didn’t really know what to do with it. Luckily, our driver/foodie extrodinaire came to the rescue with this simple recipe. Let’s get cooking

Steamed Tofu Sheet with Ham and Bamboo Shoot

Ingredients:

  •  50-75g Jinhua  ham
  • 200-300g (1-2 sheets) of tofu skin, cut into thin ribbons
  • 200-300g fresh bamboo shoot, thinly sliced
  • Ginger, julienned, to taste

Directions

  1.  Cut ham into thin strips (julienne) and steam for 20 minutes, reserve the liquid
  2. Steam the bamboo slices for about 15 minutes, or until 70-80% cooked. Discard liquid and mix with ham. Continue steaming for an additional 10 minutes
  3. Add the tofu skins and ginger to the bamboo and ham. Steam for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Serve and Enjoy!

Note: Jinhua ham is the best, but any ham (not the deli kind) will do. Also, ham is VERY salty, so be conservative. When in doubt, use less.

As promised, simple and delicious. I hope everyone gets a chance to try this out. Have a good week!
