Hi!!! I’m back with my weekly Pittsburgh Adventure! Temperatures are definitely dropping, but the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful. Am I lucky or what! For those tired of excessively long posts, consider this one a gift 😉
I planned on going to the science museum, but I hopped onto the wrong bus and ended up in Lawrenceville ?!
Lawrenceville
While science is cool, window shopping down a historical center is definitely more of my speed
Lawrenceville is one of Pittsburgh’s oldest neighborhoods and the oldest. Actually, it was founded by the father of Stephen Foster- the guy who wrote O’Susanna, along with most of the other “American classics”!
While it started as a row of log cabins, it’s transformed into one of Pittsburgh’s most culturally and economically vibrant neighborhoods thanks to the UPMC children hospital and serious gentrification efforts that brought in more than craft breweries.
The streets are lined with cool little shops, historical buildings, cute cafes…. and….
This artsy little shop had the brightness of Pier 1 Imports with the vintage charm of an upscale antique shop!
Of course, there are plenty of festivals to enjoy! (I’ll be back soon….)
… this got me thinking…..
While I crave modernity and the bustle of the city, I love nothing more than historical charm. There’s just something irresistibly comforting walking amidst old houses and imagining an alternate reality- one without the pressure of lit screens and new robots every minute. I can’t turn back time, but I can enjoy a little step back, right?
To cap off the night, I attended my first concert. CMU invited over an up and coming artist called Gnash
How was it? Meh, too loud for my taste, but cool experience
Well, that wraps up this adventure. I’ll be back soon, so don’t check out. Until then, have a good week. Bye!
What a nice mistake it ended up even when you hopped into the wrong bus! What a beautiful small town lawrencewill is! What a deep thought and taste you have from this tour! What a great day you have had! 😊
