3 Underrated Kitchen Tools

Hi!! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! I’ve strayed “off topic” for a few weeks now, but now it’s time to get back on track.

We’ve all heard endless praise for the instapot, or the “game changing” airfryer. We have both, and they are not overrated by any means. But, you probably already know that. But have you given these three a try?

  1. Bottle Caps- I have poor fine motor skills, so when I’m pouring liquids, I tend to dump way too much. After the umpteenth time pouring in 3x the amount of soy sauce into my red braise, I realized that the bottle came with it’s own measuring device. Figuring this out has been the key to nailing my red braise. For reference, 1 “bottle cap” of soy sauce (pictured above) is about 2 tsp

2. Toaster Oven- I love our oven and air fryer, but I probably use the toaster over at least 5x as much. It’s perfect for baking/broiling smaller portions (hello energy bill), easy to use and easier to clean. Even better, it works as a dehydrator and keeps food warm!

3. Hair Dryer- The secret to crispy roasts is to get the skin as dry as humanly possible. Air drying works, but using a hair dryer cuts the time from “overnight” to 15 minutes and with much better results

Do you have any other underrated kitchen tools? Are there any “non- kitchen” items that have changed the way you cook?

That’s it for this week. Until next time, Bye!
