HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!! It’s officially 2019 here in Shanghai! I swear every year goes by faster.
2018 was a year of incredible eats and I thought I’d share the highlights (in no particular order).
Tsukiji Aosora Sandaime
I’m always on the lookout for great Japanese gems. Thanks to Shanghai Girl Eats, I found Tsukiji Aosora Sandaime. The food is unbelievably fresh and prepared to succulent perfection; the service is impeccable. Sure, the likes of Sushi Oyama might have a slight flavour advantage and entertainment appeal, but when it comes to value- Tsukiji is untouchable.
Recommended dishes: Assorted Japanese Pickles, Chef’s signature 6 piece sushi, UNI, grilled fish head (still waiting to try the tuna head, but the salmon and amberjack are amazing)

Hangzhou Feast at 龙井草堂
Junior year stress+ college apps = general lack of travel. However, we did get the chance to escape to Hangzhou in August and were treated to one of the most lavish and delicious meals ever. To be clear, this is a restaurant that grows its own produce and raises its own livestock Everything about this restaurant from the dishes to the incredible atmosphere oozed traditional elegance at its best. I usually consider set menus stifling wastes of money, but it was completely worth it here. Bring a big party to impress!

Da Dong Peking Duck
Peking duck places are a dime a dozen, but of all the places I’ve tried, Da Dong reigns supreme. Needless to say, the skin is unbelievably crispy and juicy. More impressively, the chefs expertly removes the fat layer, so not a hint of greasiness. Also, duck with caviar? Who knew!
The other dishes are a bit overpriced for their quality, but the duck is good enough for it to get on the list.

Revisiting RAW Eatery an Wood Grill
I first “discovered” RAW a year ago and was blown away. Except, we were hindered by our lack of stomach space and a bad choice. The second time around was different and I’m seriously considering a third trip. They’re known for the steak, but the real stars are the seafood

Champagne Brunch at the Waldorf Astoria
To be honest, the food at this place wasn’t as spectacular as the others on this list; however, the experience made it one of the most memorable meals of the year. It was honestly the best birthday I had in years. I don’t think I need to say more.
